If your skin is feeling and looking a little lacklustre, you’re not alone. If it’s not bad enough that our skin tends to look a little dull in Winter, most of us are now being asked to stay home thanks to current restriction in some Aussie states. So, add to cold weather, the stress of a full house, kids, online learning, work from home and all the other pressures that come with lockdown, your skin has no chance of glowing, right? Wrong! We’ve put together 5 ways to help revitalise your skin at home and help you glow up!
1. Eat Well
Yeah, yeah, we know this isn’t the easiest thing to do right now but…. Adding some good natural fatty foods like avocado, salmon, almonds, walnuts, sweet potato and fresh produce like blueberries and kiwi fruit to your diet can improve the look of your skin. These foods have key ingredients like omega-3, vitamin C and vitamin E which all promote healthy, glowing skin.
2. Drink Well
Drinking plenty of water is hard during Winter but so essential to hydrating your body. As water is a key component to your skin’s elasticity, ensuring that you’re drinking plenty of water will help naturally boost and maintain a more youthful, radiant look. Some ways to keep on top of your hydration include setting an alarm to have a glass of water every hour, always have water before a meal and we can’t stress this enough, make sure you have water before and in between alcoholic beverages.
3. Massage & Bend Over
Excuse-Moi? It’s not what you think!! Now that we have your attention – massaging your face using your fave serum is great way to circulate the blood for a short term glow and (believe it or not) can actually contour and firm the skin if done regularly. Now, with the bending over, we’re talking about hanging your head upside down to help circulation as it increases blood and oxygen to your face hence creating an instant glow. We recommend doing this for 3 minutes max!
4. Skin Care Products
It’s a great time to assess and revise your skin regimen. Have you got products in your routine which help enhance your skin’s health and glow?
Cleansers like Surface Radiance Cleanse by Medik8 are great because they gently renew and purify skin to reveal a soft, radiant complexion with different key ingredients like exfoliating AHA/BHA, mandelic, lactic and salicylic acid as well as glycerin.
Exfoliation is a great way to remove dead skin cells and impurities to bring out your natural skin tones and glow. We’re loving Cosmedix’s Pure Enzymes, an exfoliating mask that washes away dull surface impurities for radiant, smooth skin.
Finally, picking a moisturiser that best suits your skin is essential to ensuring that your skin is hydrated without looking too dry or oily. Check out our range of moisturisers.
